Emotional Alchemy
Tigris x Polygon
Project SummaryOn the heels of a whiplash brand narrative from Polygon, I was tasked at creating an impactful moment for Polygon during FWB’s FEST in the hills of Mount San Jacinto. “Make Polygon cool” in comparison to their competitors Base, Arbitrum and Solana.
Emotional Alchemy is an immersive olfactory installation* that bridges human emotions and AI; materializing conversations, emotions, and expressions of identity into bespoke fragrances to capture the unique contours of our individuality.
Our Objective
Translate the concept of memory-based RWAs into a deeply human and sensory experience.
One of the ongoing challenges in Web3 is explaining abstract infrastructure narratives in a way that people can emotionally understand. Emotional Alchemy was designed as an experiment in storytelling and experience design that asked a simple but provocative question:
What is the value of a memory?
The Challenge
The concept of memory RWAs presents an intriguing but difficult narrative to communicate. While technically compelling, the idea of tokenizing memory or sentiment can feel abstract and difficult for audiences to grasp.
The challenge was to transform a highly conceptual blockchain narrative into something intimate, personal, and emotionally resonant.
Rather than explaining the concept through panels or product demos, we explored whether the idea could be felt instead of explained.
The Strategy
We partnered with experiential collective Tigris to create an immersive activation that blended artificial intelligence, scent design, and introspection.
The experience centered around a private five-minute ritual.
Attendees entered the space alone and were prompted by an AI interface to reflect on a personal memory. Participants were encouraged to confess a meaningful moment, emotion, or story from their lives.
That memory was then interpreted through a generative system that translated the emotional qualities of the story into a custom scent profile.
The result was a physical artifact of memory. A bottled fragrance representing a deeply personal moment, paired with a digital expression of that memory's conceptual value.
This transformed a technical idea about memory-based RWAs into a tangible question:
If a memory can be captured, expressed, and preserved, what is it worth?
Execution
The Emotional Alchemy installation was designed as a quiet and reflective contrast to the energy of the broader festival.
Each participant experienced:
A guided AI conversation prompting personal memory reflection
A generative translation of emotional language into scent composition
A custom-bottled fragrance representing their memory
A conceptual exploration of memory value tied to blockchain primitives
The experience lasted roughly five minutes per participant, creating a continuous flow of attendees throughout the weekend.
The intimate nature of the activation created a powerful sense of curiosity and word of mouth across the festival grounds.
Impact
Emotional Alchemy quickly became one of the most talked about installations of the entire weekend festival, seeing an impressive 35% of attendees given the time constraints.
Attendees described the experience as unexpectedly personal and reflective, creating a rare moment of pause within an otherwise high-energy Web3 event environment.
The activation succeeded in reframing a highly technical narrative around RWAs and digital value into something emotionally tangible.
Rather than presenting infrastructure, the experience invited participants to consider value through the lens of their own lived memories.
By bridging technology, art, and personal storytelling, Emotional Alchemy helped audiences connect with Polygon's broader vision in a way that felt meaningful rather than purely technical.
My Role
I led the experiential strategy and production of the activation, working closely with the Tigris team to translate the conceptual framework into a physical experience.
This included shaping the narrative direction, designing the participant journey, coordinating creative partners, and integrating the installation into the broader festival programming.
The goal was to ensure the experience felt both intimate and conceptually aligned with Polygon’s evolving exploration of digital ownership and real-world assets.
